Thank you

One of my duties as President of Verwood Rotary is to hand out the grants to the clubs, organisation and charities who helped at the Verwood Rustic Fayre, which took place on the Summer Bank Holiday weekend.

We held our thank you evening last night in Verwood and made the presentations. It is an honour and a privilege to be able to help support these individuals who give so much to their community.

These amazing people also donated  over £60 towards my fund to purchase a Portable Dental Unit for my trip to Uganda next year with Dentaid.

My thanks go out to them all.

I'll post some photos as soon as I get them.

Dentaid Presentation to Verwood Rotary

Ann and Mike from Romsey Test Rotary Club are visiting Verwood Rotary tonight to give a presentation about Dentaid, and the portable surgery in a 'wheelie bin'. I'm looking forward to hearing them.

Dentaid volunteering trip to Uganda 2014

In many parts of the world millions of people have no access to dental care. This can mean enduring the pain and suffering of toothache, abscesses and diseases with no hope of relief.
Dentaid ( www.dentaid.org) is a charity dedicated to improving the oral health of disadvantaged communities around the world.
Dentaid's vision is a world in which everyone has the opportunity to enjoy good oral health and has access to safe, effective and affordable oral healthcare.
Dentaid looks to support oral health projects by supplying dental equipment, including portable dental equipment (dental surgery in a wheelie bin! ) to be used in rural areas, providing oral health education resources and training.

As a dentist I am well aware of the pain and discomfort caused by dental disease, and as a Rotarian I was inspired by Rotary International President Ron Burton's message to engage Rotary and change lives. The Rotary Club of Verwood (Verwood Rotary ), of which I am currently President, has agreed to sponsor me to make volunteering trip to Uganda where I will be providing much needed dental care and education, as well as supporting and mentoring local health care professionals.

I am raising money to take with me a portable dental unit which costs around £1500, so if you would like to make a donation I would be grateful. Donations can be made at my donations page. Thanks, and please follow my adventures via this blog, and pass it on to your friends.

Thank you
